AWPA JOINS ICC-ES IN LISTING POSTSAVER^® USA SYSTEM

Effective immediately, the American Wood Protection Association (AWPA) has listed the POSTSAVER^® USA barrier protective system in their Book of Standards¹. This listing recognizes that POSTSAVER^® USA boots can provide a positive means of protecting wood used in ground contact.  The listing further recognizes the POSTSAVER^® USA contribution by allowing reduced preservative retentions such as those normally used in Above Ground Uses to be used in Ground Contact Uses.   

“This listing shows that POSTSAVER^® USA booted posts and SmartPost^®, the specific POSTSAVER^® USA product for structural applications, benefit from the protection we provide” said John Makuvek, POSTSAVER^® USA ’s General Manager.  “POSTSAVER^® USA offers builders and suppliers a safe and superior product, and now the AWPA has recognized that POSTSAVER^® USA products are an effective and proven solution to wood post decay.”

In March 2007, ESR-1834 was issued to POSTSAVER^® USA by the Evaluation Services of the International Code Council (ICC-ES).  The ESR finds that POSTSAVER^® USA protected wooden members are building code compliant for those uses such as ground contact applications where decay and termite resistant wood is required.
